Property Description

Project consisted of 600,000 s.f. expansion and renovation to the existing museum. Spanning the block between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, the revamped MoMA features restored historic facades on 53rd Street and presents an entirely new face on 54th Street. Also included in the project were two unique HVAC systems. One was temporary and maintained steady temperature and humidity levels in the building during construction – an uncommon precaution to prevent mold growth, which could damage the artwork and a permanent system, which feeds each gallery space by separate ducts that feed directly into two machine rooms. The MoMA project had extremely intensive quality control tolerances. Collaborated with Owner to complete the Education Building and assisted AMEC in the turnover of the main Museum in November 2005.
